Re: Another Viper fairing fan...
11 Jan 2025 11:08Yes i found out some of that about the laverda engine ,but on the later rgs1000 engine i think they installed exhaust valveseats and even valve seals !!Hi Rolf,
yes, to get older will bring some little things withit ...i`ll know, ya can bet!...And i have a good understanding, that you have loved this fine Laverda 1000, it´s pretty racer, i had own a 1000 Jota 120° from 2008- 2012.
But too complecated engine meshup: P.Ex. : To adjust the valvelash, you have to get out the cams, to get out the cams, you have to split the timing chain...and so on..2-piece cam-bearing-blocks...opposite this, is an Kawasaki engine very good and easy to service!!!

Hi Rolf,
yes, i understand and do a full agree! Sometimes, it´s better to listen and follow inner feelings about a decision to buy, or let it...

Re: Another Viper fairing fan...
16 Jan 2025 08:16Do you have any pictures of how you have them mounted? I am looking at different mount options, but I am not going to buy a universal mount kit.I'm a fan also. I installed one on the 82' Honda CB 900F even though my buddy doesn't like fairings. I told him to ride it home for a while, it's 40 miles with a bunch of freeway. He rode it back a couple weeks later and said it was good especially on the freeway. I have mounted a few of them and always make braces that use the mirror mounts and the rear windscreen screws. There's no movement or buffeting and the air comes off the fairing very smooth. I usually cut off the extensions from the lower corners off the fairing just for looks.

I'll try to remember to get some pictures of the brackets I made. We're going to sell the 900F and Paul wanted to sell it without the fairing so I have already removed it.

I'm sorry but with the new format it says image to large and after reducing the size it says upload failed. I've tried several times but I'm no computer whiz.

Today the day was a bit brighter and sunnier, so I put the fairing on the bike. To do this it was necessary to make a few longer indicator rods, as well as the actual brackets. I´ve mad the brackets from 30 x 3 mm flat stainless, bend the to an "U" like, they fitted under the flasher studs...
Just need a little mini correcting, but at all, the fairing fits ok for me. Finally, i will support the fairing on both top-side-flanges, with little supporting bracket, mount on the original mirror fixes, than the fairing is "storm-resistant" i think
Here a simple drawing about the brackets, view from top

Hi Rolf,
i dunno about the original lenghts of the Kawasaki indicator studs, but remember, the original Kawa-flashers have a big diameter, maybe, you will nett longer studs..best way to know about, is to hold the fairing in front of your headlight, than you will see, how many space ya will have between both sides...
No, i´ve used the original headlight mount, in correct fix, ( NO upside downs), cause it matches so perfect with my handlebar and the resulting level of the master cylinder,..nothing disturbs, overall good clearance.
So i can live with the installed heights...
( I´ve made my blinker studs from Ø 15 mm aluminum, reduced the diameter to 13,98mm to match the Honda blinkers,..the first ones (without the fairing), haven´t been to short with their 50mm outside, now they are 90mm long ( from headlight monting point), and that a little to long, i think, i will short them about 20 mm each. for a better. look...)
I am sure, you will find the right way and do it pretty fine, if i can help with informations, just let me know. here...!.
