On my bike it wouldn't cross the instruments either, but due to the narrow handlebars, definitely with the master cylinder..
But you gave me an idea: I'll equip the rods with ball joints at both ends, then I'll be flexible in the angles and length!

I must just made another 2 adapters from M10 x 1,25 with an M5 inside, and than i will made the rods from stainless 5mm diameter, with 1 ankle-ball-joint, and 1 axial-ball-joint,..full adjustable, and that it was, ( i think ;-)

Thanks for the discussion about and your point of view!

Spot light steady bars from rally cars might be just the job ?

Yes, Wook, something like this,... but with an axial joint on on end,..will buy the joints, and the rods with their threads, i will do on my lathe.... so i can made the needed lenghts..

@asphalt900.  Yeah, i ve trash some bikini fairing in the early years also, i liked this style jsut in the later years ;-)..But i know what you meant: If i would have all the kawasaki parts back, , i had given away, ( mostly for cheap money), i would be lucky and had sved a lot of bucks. But thats life, you can´t storage all, and what you really don´t need, can go ..

Those bikini fairings were all the rage back when i had my 78 Z1R in highschool 1981. I loved them but have taken a different route these later days.

My first `72 Z1, i´ve had in `79, i ride it without any fairing, ( but i´ve dreamed about, but to expensive at this time for me), and later mostly naked also, but always with clip-ons and 4-1, and longer racetanks...
Than, in 2008 or 9, i´ve put an BMW-Bikin-fairing on my Z1B and was happy withit...

Now, i´ve determinted, what exactly i will need for fixing the upper wings:
Straight uniball joint, with inner thread for upper, and axial-joint for lower end.. Just ordered, and next week or so, i will take the bike out of the back of my garage, to be able for work on it with more space around..

Oh Yes Joe, the old BMW R90RS fairings! Just helped a friend with his Bing carbs for the same. BMW had that cool smoked paint job that blended. I do a lot of the Bings or opposed BMW stuff. Carb parts are cheap, comparative. Actually pulled the fairing off my old Z1R and could attain faster speeds then with it attached, go think.

I don´t attached it for the hunt of speed, i just like the style and design withit ;-)

I always must identify myself with the bike i ride, say, i must like it immense, otherwise, i wouldn´t ride a bike i don´t like, only if it´s good is to ride but nasty for me...

Yes, i agree: The "smoked" grey paint of late 70 BMW´s was beautyfull, but the rest of the technic and design was awfull for me, just allone the complete big crankcase design, and of course, i don´t like thoose boxer engines, BMW´s are to very oldstyle 50ts for me, i am sorry!

Got the "Black Lady " out today, for some little more adjustments on the fairing, tomorrow i will turn the upper adjustment-studs on my lathe, and then i can fix it finally,..but now we can see, how it will be when it´s finished...And then, beginning on 1st of march, it´s again allowed for me, to hit the road with this bike ;-) ;-)

So i´ve done the rest of the work for the upper mounting on fairing,....fixed well,...and done some little doings on the bike, like departing the centerstand, ( i have it only for off-season, or wheels change-jobs), and re-installed the exhaust,...SO,... it is ready now for the next bike-season, starting 1st. of march,..Yeeehaaarrr ! !

You all may have a nice, care and troublefree Bikeseason!!!!

A superb solution to use the mirror mounts to secure the faring.
