It's a Vance and Hines pipe, soon to be replaced. I'm waiting for MotoGP Werx to finish up some stainless Yosh replicas.

Kid Kawie, I like that idea!Kidkawie wrote: The rear drum on Z1's are pretty good, you may want to just consider a set of Z1/KZ drum/spoke wheels and just toss them on. No muss, no fuss. then you'll have be-Utiful spoke wheels.

Otakar, that's cool too bad we didn't know each other back then. I bought my one and only "new" bike at Cycle City. It was a 1983 ELR that I bought in January 1985. Sold it to a guy in Kailua around 1989 and never saw it again.otakar wrote: I just noticed that you live in HI. I was stationed there a total of 9 years. During my first tour I worked for Cycle City. I painted all the HPD KZ1000s back in 1978/79 when they traded in their 900s for 1000s. I have three bikes that I brought back from there in my stable. Here is an old picture when I bought My first Z1R in 1978. As you can tell, it was taken in Kaneohe.
Back in those days I remember seeing about 4-5 ELR's on the island. A guy on the UH football team used to have one. His name was Matt, I don't remember his last name.
BTW my avatar photo was taken at the Windward Mall parking lot. Was your picture with the Z1R taken on base?

Bob, thanks for the info. I'm going the drum brake route now. If I need a disc in the future I will know it can be done.BohicaBob wrote: Kapahulu: No welding needed to convert from a drum rear brake setup to a disc rear brake setup. I did it on my '73 Z1-900. See my "Z1-900 Stage II" link.
Your KZ came out really nice. The Z1 tail light is a nice touch.
