I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

no vic,
this one is getting welded on.
i was tempted to make it bolt on.
but,
then i would have prolly wanted to make it from aluminum  .
and as i had already quoted a price and bought material i figured i should do it as i had intended.
i got the top rails welded on last night but was so cold and tired when i got through i didn't get any pics.
here is the sketch i made up of what the subframe lines will look like.

thanks for the kind words sir.mopguy wrote: You do some really nice welding,I guess you have been doing this a long time.
yes i have been at it for awhile.
i used to race a yamaha banshee on shortrack/tt you had to have custom a-arms to widen the spindles 2" per side and move the spindles forward 1" the swingarms need shortend 3".
i was working as a fabricator/machinist/mechanic and decided i would do all my own work.
so i built my own a-arms and modded my swingarm etc.
and as with anything once you have proven you can do something custom someone else is going to want you to do something custom for them and so on.

Fantastic work as always, and just an overall good guy. I have to ask, why twin shocks for the rear? Is the leverage with that long swinger too much for just one of those air springs?

the guys at
dirtyworks-kc.com/products/dirty-air-diy-rear-air
where we got the air ride kit from said that if it was over 500lbs we would need two shocks.
vic,
i am going to try to get him to keep me updated on the build so i can update this post.
