Not sure if this will answer your question but if you want to keep the same height with the longer swingarm. Measure the distance from pivot to shock mount from the original arm and weld the new shock mounts to same distance .

The new arm rests on the muffler/buddy peg arms. It's quite a bit fatter than the stock one. I'm just concerned the spring rate will have changed by the angle of the dangle.

Yes, it will. Back in the day, some road racers moved the top shock mount forward as a cheap and easy way to gain a little extra travel. If moved too far, the severe angle of the shock changed the leverage in a negative way, making the suspension stiff over little irregularities and soft over the big ones.

i don't understand the geometry well enough to tell you how and why.
but,
i am willing to bet the guys at sanctuary in japan spent a little time on it and they seem to place the shocks right at the front of the sheetmetal gusset that the shock mount is in.
naturally they have a bad assed jig for drilling and welding ,
but,it could be done by careful measuring and fitting .
here are what the mounts look like.
so i don't think you could go to far wrong by duplicating what those crafty lil buggers have done.
hth,

That would put them on much more of a angle than 1" on the arm would.

but by moving the top forward they get a more progressive action.
moving the shocks back on the arm will make them stiffer.
think of it like cutting wire with cutters.way out on the tip of the cutters it takes alot more effort to cut, than if you move the wire into the v of the pliers.
leon
p.s. if you want it to ride like stock keep the shock angle and adjust the mounts for ride height.
it's all a bit of a trade off.

Got it done. Jeff spent a lot more time than I would have asked. The welds won't break, that's for sure.
Got a few clips of the welding.
Uploading them now.

Yesterday it was pushing 90. Today i'ts in the 50's and windy. The wind started just as we were finishing up. I didn't get clips of the lathe. You can hear and see when you are getting meat. Seems Kawasaki hardened certain areas of the pivot shaft. Start to get some shavings then the bit would start squealing. Lots of cutting oil but still ruined both bits. Not surprised. 16mm bits from CHINA.
I'll buy a cobalt bit, cut my bushings and go in from the back side. Gonna shape the shock mounts and strip off the paint. I'll have to mount it once it's done, use some old chain I have laying around to get an accurate count on the links I need. I'll buy a complete set. Sprockets and O ring chain.
I'll be working up my bushings and post pics when they're done.
 What the F did you do?
Getting better.

Did a little more. Shaped the shock mounts. Will do more when I know where they will mount and sanded most of the paint off. I'll have to break out the sand blaster for the nooks and crannys plus where you don't see like the bottom. At some point I think I'll polish this FOXY little thing.
