Very nice bike for all those years old! In looking at the front wheel I noticed that the axle seems somewhat recessed more than normal and was curious on the measuring you did to obtain the original spacing.
Keep on riding that great looking bike!

Watch this space, I should have the details by Sunday (Aust time)for the front end. As I have stated my front end works incredibly well with lots of feel but others might find it harsh especially after riding with their old system. You will have to consider updating the front fork spring because the brakes will have you driving around with the front sagged. Till then

Very nice Z1r man. I am ooking at the pipe and can see it is a Marving. Very good choice of header. I cant see how it goes under the bike by your pics though. Is it like the one on my bike? Anyway, fine job.

Am addicted to Z1's and kz 900's have an el camino, fly rc helicoptors and am strung out on horsepower.

I wish but alas no, it does have a bit of flex, the original bars were replaced to allow the hydraulics to fit without wrecking the fairing. I don't like straight bars so this was close enough

Mike can't make out how yours goes under, my pipe has four pipes side by side rather than the usual four square fitting, if I find a picture I'll post it for you. Beleive it or not I didn't plan for this bike to end up like this, everytime something didn't work well i replaced it with something better. My original (slightly chipped but roiginal paint) plastics/ fairing / tank etc I still have packed away, these were just spares I aquired over a period of time. The paint is nothing fancy, I always liked the colour, I do have a stickon clear on top of the tank to prevent scratches.

Mike, this is a better picture of the exhaust, disregard the road muffler (too quiet and less power)

Mike, NNiiiiiiiiiiiiiice, beautifulllllllllll, that looks fantastic (the bike that is) , my exhaust layout is the same but yours points up more (is that standard?). Did your pipe make a huge difference because mine did and I already had what was considered a good set of pipes,

Have you changed the rake on the frontend or does it look that way because the front end is what seems to be from a shafty, anything done to the motor (out of the ordinary). How much is the swingarm lengthened by and how does it effect the bike around corners? (I'm front Australia, so I enjoy corners)

Thanks, I put alot of time in the bike. It is a 1976 kz 900 bottom end with a kz 1000 head. I bored it to a 1015cc using J.E. pistons with 10 1/4 to one compression. Stock cams, 1978 Z1r carbs with alot of re-jetting. Swing arm is from a 1980 csr 1000 as is the leading axle forks. Custom made tripple trees with 6 deg. of rake. Short shocks (11 inch) a 16 inch rear with 150/80/16 tire. Harley drag bars and headlight bracket with the cover. Like the look. The pipe is side by side under the bike and collects horizontally with the Marving chrome race pipe rotated to keep it close to the shocks. I had a Vance & Hines 4 into 1 on it but it sits so low I could barely turn right. This pipe sounds as good as the V&H with no baffle. I never use baffles, but you have to re-jet so the pipes dont turn gold or blue. I always sprsy high heat paint inside each one to help as well. I get alot of compliments on this bike. This is how a kawasaki is supposed to look in my minds eye. Feels like a 250cc on alot of steroids.

I'll try to answer the question on this forum - first the brake adapter, NOTE: check design for yourself, if it doesn't work don't blame me.
1. Fork modification - mounting lugs need trimming (inside only), I actually took each complete fork assembly off and had it milled.

2. The bracket, NOTE I did not include chamfers, designs etc, this is just the core design. I used 6160T6 Aluminium (sorry yanks, Aluminum. Hope this works its pdf. You will notice that this is for the yami R6 /R1 calliper but I believe Tokico and similar will fit -check

I have include the distance of my discs (outside dimension check) ensure yours is the same or change design of mount to suit, ALWAYS MAKE SURE THERE IS CLEARANCE OF AT LEAST 2~3mm between calliper and wheel spokes - mine are standard Z1R

Attachment DSC09244.JPG not found

If for some reason you want to use the R6 (has to be up to 2006 model, 2007> have bigger discs and mounting)discs like mine, the following drawings should help make the adapters, mine were anodized black, again I take no responsibility - so check design first against your steed.

I had problems with the pdf documents so I'll post the designs next, stay tuned
