Dutch 1977 Z1000 Build

I know but I have AN10, and these are hard to get.

It fits, barely.
Would like to put the cooler higher up but the lines are hitting the tank.



Have to shave some more metal of the bracket to get more air to the engine.



Now I have to connect it because the oil cooler is blocking the airflow to the "air cooled" engine :laugh:

I think you'd be better off with it reversed.

Do you mean without cooler or with the fittings at the bottom?

With the fittings down you'll be able to hook up the tach and reverse the L bracket to gain another 2" in height. . I had the same issue. Those fittings are sexy so you won't have to hide them like I did.

I see, but I have an electronic tach from my Dyna ignition.
And I read the "long" discussion about oil quantity when installing an cooler :pinch:
Thats why I like the idea that when the fittings are at the top most extra oil stays in the cooler when the engine is not running.
Also I personally do not like the oil lines at the side of the engine.

If you route the lines up along the back bones they will be hidden and the oil will stay in the cooler.

Picked up some new stuff.


Biggest problem was taking the old oil pressure thing out.
I tend to use blue locktite too often :pinch:
It gives me peace of mind that most things don't come loose but its a PITA when I want to take things apart.





Waiting for a few more nuts and bolts and then starting up and hopefully no leaks

Tension is building :lol: , this weekend they promise nice weather so I want to make my first ride of this year.
Had a few jobs left to do but my wife gave a higher priority to finishing the bathroom .
One thing which is keeping me troubled for the last 2 years is the engine breather, I tried different lines and bottles but it kept leaking or overflowing.
Now I think I have it solved .








Probably an overkill on the heavy duty oil lines but they look so cool.

Biggest problem I have for the moment is the steering damper.
I had to remove it so I could fit the oil cooler but the problem I have now is where to fit it?
Most of the new bikes have one on top but I did not see one yet on an old Z.
Any ideas??

I've never had trouble with the canister style breather. The smaller ones look cool but I'm not surprised they let oil get by. I suspect what you have will make a mess over time.
