Well, the choke plunger levers disappeared at the platers so I've got the spares on. At least he did a good job on the brake caliper brackets so the front brakes are on as well.
Getting the carbs in was a major PITA. The 750 is so much easier.

Bit far unfortunately (especially on a school night) shame as it would have been good to catch up

Figured as much but thought I should let you know - not really sure where anyone's based over here.

Been slowly working away at this. I now have everything except the bodywork and switch blocks done. Will get into the painting as soon as I've got the dent in the tank sorted and the tail sanded back down to the plastic..

No pictures today...

Scored a NOS rear master cylinder for cheap. Actually don't think it'll end up on the bike, though - it should really be put on an all-original build.

Took the tank down the road to get a couple of dents pulled yesterday. When I was packing it up I noticed that the bracket for the tank cap is missing. Not sure why I never noticed before, must not have been paying attention.

If anyone has some scraps lying around from switching out the cap on an A1, A2 or 900A4 tank I'd be very grateful...

But it could have been worse if you noticed after paint.

Yeah, glad I noticed it - after painting would have been a nightmare.

Could someone out there please take the time to measure the following for me:
- OD and ID of the tube for the cap pin
- Width of the tube including the bracket
- Distance from the inside of the tank to the back of the tube (blue line)
- Top of tube to tank surface (red line)

If I have that then I can make a new bracket and get someone who is halfway decent at brazing to put it on the tank for me.

Calum -
As it happens, my Z1A tank is hanging in my garage, primed and getting paint tomorrow !
OD tube   6mm
ID tube  2.7mm
Width including bracket  15.8mm
Blue line dimension  25.8mm
Red line dimension  16.1mm
Some additional info:
The thickness of the bracket material is  2.4mm
The roll pin is 2.65mm x 30.4mm long
You should probably use the roll pin dia to size the tube ID, since I got three measurements for the tube ID (gave you the middle one). As long as the tube ID isn't a real tight fit for the roll pin you use, your cap should hinge OK.
note: my Z1A tank latch mount looks a little different than yours (see photo).  The hole in the latch mount is 3.5mm up from the tank.  The filler neck stands 12.4mm above the tank.
You may need to adjust the red line dimension to get the proper fit for your cap.  I'm sure you plan to mock up with the cap before brazing.

Thanks Scotty! I see that there are three different pins used on the Z1's and KZ1000's. I've been waiting for some parts on back order and the tank cap is in the same order. I just asked the guy to send the cap now so I can make sure it fits. With the pin and your dimensions I should be set.
